Common Name
  Lord Howe flax snail

Not verified Present
Native
Phylum: MOLLUSCA
Class: GASTROPODA
Order: Eupulmonata
Image © Family: Bulimulidae
Notes: Placostylus species are found in New Caledonia, Solomon Islands, Fiji, Lord Howe Island and the northern tip of New Zealand. This distribution suggests they originated in the old southern continent of Gondwana. These large ground-dwelling snails now have very limited distributions because of their size, biology and the impact of man.
